How does
EL-wire work?
EL wire turns separate contours into one continuous light line. This guide explains what happens inside a light-up mask, what the controller does and how to use the material safely.

What is EL-wire?
EL means electroluminescent. The flexible wire contains a light-emitting layer that glows when the small inverter in the battery holder supplies an alternating electrical field. Instead of separate points, it creates an even line around eyes, ears, mouths and outer contours.
EL wire or ordinary LED points?
Ordinary LEDs are individual, often very bright light sources. EL wire is less point-focused and follows curved shapes more easily. That makes it useful for graphic masks: in the dark you first see the silhouette, followed by the details.
Controller, modes and power
Our models use a wired battery holder with a clothing clip. One button switches between steady light, slow flashing, fast flashing and off. Depending on the model, the cable is approximately 90 to 100 cm long. Two AA batteries are included.
Why can you hear a faint tone?
The inverter converts the battery voltage for the EL wire. This may produce a faint high-pitched tone, especially in a quiet room. It is a normal characteristic of EL lighting and is usually much less noticeable around music or at an event.
Use and care
Keep the mask, wiring and controller dry. Do not submerge or use it in heavy rain. Switch it off, remove the batteries and clean it carefully with a slightly damp cloth only. Stop using it if the wiring, holder or mask becomes damaged.
Which shape suits you?
